Council does not take an Employee Case

2. What happens if the Council doesn’t take an employee’s case? Do they lose any rights?

The employee has the option of pursuing other processes and loses no rights by working with the Council. However, the employee is asked to put other processes on hold, or to make only “protective” filings to preserve their rights while the Council works on the case. At this first stage, the employee’s name is not communicated to the rest of the Council, so his or her identity is protected should he or she choose not to go further with the Council. If the Council doesn’t take the case, it may be able to provide general information about other possible avenues for assistance.
